THE BOYS ARE BACK 12
starring Clive Owen, Laura Fraser & George MacKay The Boys Are Back is a confessional tale of fatherhood. A sports journalist, in the wake of his wife’s death from cancer, finds himself suddenly in the state of single parenthood. Joe Warr (Owen) throws himself into the only child-rearing philosophy he thinks has a shot at bringing joy back into their lives: “Just say yes.” Raising two boys in a household devoid of feminine influence, and with a lack of rules, life becomes exuberant, instinctual, reckless… and on the constant verge of disaster.
This tale of a father trying to rear two young sons could have been an awful schmaltzfest but instead proves a winningly tender piece of filmmaking.
